What is PURE COTTON wall covering?

PURE COTTON is also known as LIQUID WALLPAPER, COTTON PLASTER or JAPANESE DECORATIVE PLASTER.

Our product is very similar to that, but our product is made from 100% pure new cotton with natural dyes from MICA stones.

The accent pieces are also made of a sustainable, natural material. Furthermore, our own plantation and production process are sustainable (solar panels) and naturally dried by the sun.

Liquid wallpaper, also called Japanese decorative plaster or cotton plaster, is a decorative wall covering sold as a dry mixture. The mixture consists of natural fibers, such as cotton, and linseed oil as a binder and decorative additives. Adding water creates a liquid mass that is applied to the wall with a trowel.

Composition and properties

Liquid wallpaper is made from the following materials:

  • Natural fibers: The base consists of cotton, with or without silk.
  • Binder: Linseed oil as a binder and a water-based adhesive.
  • Decorative elements: Think of glass glitter, mica stone minerals.

Advantages

  • Seamless finish: Because liquid wallpaper is applied seamlessly, there are no visible seams or transitions, which is often the case with traditional wallpaper.
  • Hides imperfections: The material can fill small cracks and imperfections in the wall, creating a smoother finish.
  • Easy to repair: Damage can easily be repaired by wetting the damaged area, removing the material and applying a new layer.
  • Eco-friendly and breathable: Made with natural materials and free of harmful VOCs. The breathable structure also helps regulate humidity.
  • Sound and heat insulation: The fibrous structure of the material provides additional sound and heat insulation.
  • Anti-static: It repels dust and dirt.
  • Suitable for ceilings: The seamless finish also makes it ideal for covering ceilings.
  • Fire resistant properties with fire safety certificate.

Disadvantages

  • Cost: Liquid wallpaper is generally slightly more expensive than traditional wallpaper or paint.
  • Long drying time: Applying liquid wallpaper is time-consuming and can take up to 48 hours to dry completely.

Application

  1. Preparation: The wall must be cleaned (and possibly pre-treated with a primer) to ensure that the cotton adheres properly.
  2. Mixing: The dry mixture is mixed with water according to the instructions on the packaging.
  3. Application: The paste is spread over the surface with a special transparent trowel. It is important to apply it in an even layer.
  4. Drying time: Let the cotton dry completely. The exact time depends on the thickness and environmental factors.

about practical applications

Liquid wallpaper is used in various ways, both in homes and commercial spaces. It's a flexible material used for more than just walls, thanks to its seamless finish and other advantages.

Residential applications

  • Living rooms and bedrooms: Thanks to its sound-insulating and heat-insulating properties, liquid wallpaper is ideal for rooms where peace and comfort are important.
  • Staircase: ideal because it prevents damage or is easy to repair invisibly. It's also much quieter and feels warmer.
  • Kitchens: It is a breathable material that does not absorb odors, making it suitable for kitchens.
  • Ceilings: Because it can be applied seamlessly, it is also perfect for ceilings, giving a sleek and modern look.
  • Children's bedrooms: The environmentally friendly and anti-static composition, which repels dust, is a healthy advantage for children's bedrooms.
  • Renovation projects: Liquid wallpaper is excellent for covering uneven walls and small cracks without much prep work.

Applications in commercial spaces

  • Hotels, restaurants, and shops: Due to its durability and the ability to create unique textures and colors, liquid wallpaper is widely used in commercial spaces. It helps create a specific atmosphere.
  • Offices and meeting rooms: Its sound-absorbing properties make it suitable for work spaces where concentration is important.
  • Artistic installations: Artists and designers are using liquid wallpaper for decorative panels and murals, taking advantage of the opportunity to apply detailed patterns and textures.

Special applications

  • Complex surfaces: Traditional wallpaper isn't always suitable for difficult areas, such as curved walls, arches, and pipes. Liquid wallpaper is easy to apply to almost any surface, including wood, MDF, concrete, and plasterboard.
  • Music and home theater rooms: The sound-dampening properties help improve the acoustics, making liquid wallpaper ideal for these spaces.
